Tent of Meeting

Again and again since we arrived in Sheffield, God has spoken of returning to our first love, going deeper with him, and renewing our life of prayer with him.

Exodus 33:7-11

“Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it…. calling it the ‘tent of meeting’. As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud….. they all stood and worshipped…… The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young assistant Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.”

This November, 6th-13th, we are holding the ‘Tent of Meeting’ an environment that we hope will act as a catalyst to take us deeper into God and more in love with him as a church. We aim to give God a sacrifice of praise spending a week focussing on the Lord and putting him at the centre. A time to look at Jesus and to enjoy being with him, rather than being busy for him. As we do that, we cannot fail to be changed, and we expect God to bless us and draw us closer to him.

The Prayer Room at Philly will be set up as a worship venue with 24-7 access. We will have mixed live and streamed worship day and night for the week. We are hoping that the whole of NCS will get involved in the Tent of Meeting at some level. We are inviting communities to use the 7pm-9pm slot, with worship leaders, through the week, students will take up the 9-11pm slots and staff will prioritise worship over meetings for the week. We’re hoping that children and youth will get involved, and other creative ideas and expressions come out of it, including prophetic art. There will also be some intercession streams through the week. You will be able to see what is going on and book slots for you and/or your community by going to the website and using the Prayer Room booking button.
