What Degree?

The Bachelors in Theology is a 3 year course and the degree is awarded by ACOM (Australia College of Ministry) and SCD (Sydney College of Divinity). The curriculum is developed and owned by ACOM (Australia College of Ministry) and is facilitated in the UK in partnership with ACOM.

How much does it cost?

The cost is £2400/year for each of the 3 years. The church in which you are placed will take care of your accommodation and food needs. Usually you will live with a host family. In addition, your placement church covers any ministry expenses, travel to and from Conferences and Cluster Meetings, and offers you £25-50 per week pocket money.

How is it delivered?

The Bth is delivered through a combination of residential, regional, and personal contexts.

You will attend six residential conferences per year where you will be led in guided facilitations covering the Bth modules (Think university lectures, but more interactive!).
You will attend a weekly cluster of other youth ministry trainees in your area. An experienced cluster leader will help support you and oversee your practical training. The hours you spend in ministry will go toward earning your degree!
In between conferences and cluster meetings, you will spend 10-15 hours per week in personal reading, studying and essay writing.
Essays and course work are submitted electronically to be marked and recorded.

Learning practical youth ministry skills is an important part of the ICY-UK training Experience. At the heart is growing in your own relationship with God. From this, we focus on six key skill development areas throughout the year which include:

YEAR 1, AUTUMN TERM–Intro to the Bible, Intro to Theology, and Pastoral Care.

YEAR 1, WINTER TERM–Youth Ministry 1: Foundations and Strategy and Spiritual Formation.

YEAR 1, SUMMER TERM–Preaching 1, History of Missional Movements, and Personal Formation.

YEAR 2, AUTUMN TERM–Christology, Acts and Romans, and The Meaning of Scripture (How to Study your Bible).

YEAR 2, WINTER TERM–Youth Ministry 2: Context and Care and Cross-Cultural Ministry.

YEAR 2, SUMMER TERM–Preaching 2, The Holy Spirit, Becoming a Missional Leader, and Personal Formation 2.

YEAR 3, AUTUMN TERM–Pentateuch (Genesis – Deuteronomy), Wisdom Literature (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon), and Paul’s Writings.

YEAR 3, WINTER TERM–Youth Ministry 3: Ministry and Personal Growth and Ethics.

YEAR 3, SUMMER TERM–Mastering Change, General Epistles and Revelation, Church Planting, and Personal Formation 3.
